Tonight, our community came together to cheer on the Redskins—but we also came together for something much bigger than a football game: to stand together in the fight against cancer.
Cancer has touched so many families in one way or another. Tonight was an opportunity to support those who are fighting, honor those who have won their battle, remember those we have lost, and remind one of our very own students and their family that they are surrounded by a community that cares.
A special thank you to our National Honor Society for organizing shirt sales and selling memory ribbons and thunder sticks, with donations benefiting MCCA. Thank you also to our cheerleaders for hosting a cheer clinic as part of the fundraising efforts.
We are especially grateful that tonight also gave us the opportunity to raise funds to support one of our own students.
Thank you to everyone who purchased a shirt, made a donation, participated in the clinic, filled the stands, or simply showed their support.
Tonight was a beautiful reminder that we are more than a school, we are a community.

A little friendly competition is happening in our photography classes! Each student submits one of their best photos to the Google Classroom stream, and then the opposite class gets to be the judge. Students vote for their favorite, and the photo receiving the majority vote earns the title of Top Photographer of the Week! 🏆
We love seeing our students put their creativity, skills, and unique perspectives to work—and having their peers recognize their talent makes it even better!

Just Popping in to Celebrate a Great Start!
Mrs. Pacelli and Mr. Riley enjoyed popping into Senior Seminar, Character Ed and Advocacy classes this week to share a popsicle and thank our students for a great first week!
As part of our "Raising the Bar Together” theme at Nokomis Junior/Senior High this year, we have spent time talking with students about what it truly means to raise the bar. It goes beyond academics, it’s reflected in their effort, choices, attitude, kindness, responsibility, and how they treat others. We want our students to know that we believe in them and are here to support them, while also continuing to challenge them to become the best version of themselves.
And “Raising the Bar Together” isn’t just about our students, it is a commitment from our staff and administration, too, to continue learning, growing, reflecting, and raising the bar in what we do for our students each day.
Throughout the year, we hope to find many opportunities to recognize and celebrate our students as we see them raising the bar in the classroom, in activities and athletics, and simply in the choices they make each day.
Families are an important part of the "together.” Help us celebrate the good, encourage continued growth, and remind your student that their effort and choices matter.
We are so appreciative of the positive start to our year and loved hearing students share that they had a great first week. We are excited to see just how high we can "Raise the Bar Together" this year! #NOKOPROUD

Maybe it was a teacher who believed in you, a coach who pushed you, or a staff member who made you feel seen and supported. Chances are, you still remember them today.
This year, we’re inviting our community to help us celebrate the amazing staff at Nokomis Junior/Senior High School by sponsoring our Raise the Bar Cart as a part of our school wide theme.
For $75–$100, you can sponsor a month in honor or memory of an educator who made a difference in your life. We’ll share their name and story with our staff as we deliver a cart of treats and appreciation.
It’s a simple way to honor someone who made an impact on you while celebrating the people making that same kind of impact on our students today.
