RECAP:
Redskins Baseball:
The Redskins lost a tough one to Pawnee last night, 7–6 in the 9th. Defensively, we were solid all night, and our pitching competed well throughout. Offensively, we just didn’t come up with enough timely hits to drive in runners. We needed a game like that, one that puts pressure on us and prepares us for May. While we obviously wanted a better outcome, the energy and competitive drive were evident from start to finish. I walked off the field motivated by the opportunity to be tested by a strong opponent. I also left proud to coach every player who wore a Nokomis jersey last night. Win or lose, I’ll take that group over anyone on the field and off the field.
Lady Redskins Softball:
Nokomis Varsity Lady Redskins had trouble keeping up with Pawnee Varsity Indians in a 13-3 loss on Tuesday at Pawnee CUSD 11. Cloey Dirks took the loss for Nokomis Varsity Lady Redskins. The starter went five and two-thirds innings, allowing 13 runs (nine earned) on 11 hits, striking out seven and walking seven. Maddison DeWerff drove the middle of the lineup, leading Nokomis Varsity Lady Redskins with two runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-3 on the day. Nokomis Varsity Lady Redskins play at home on Wednesday against Shelbyville Rams in their next game.
