As many of you know, the Illinois General Assembly is considering HB 1237, the elimination of certain mascots throughout the state, especially those pertaining to Native Americans. A new amendment has been filed to this bill, but it still does not meet all the criteria set forth by the opponents of the bill. Most importantly, it takes away local control from districts which is unnecessary.
The House Education Policy Committee is scheduled to meet tomorrow morning at 8:00 am to debate the bill.

The Lady Redskins Basketball team held their awards banquet on March 29th at the Depot.. They recognized their undefeated JV team, Natalie Brownback and Grace DeWerff - 1st team all-conference, Alivia Sabol - 2nd team all-conference, Kinley Stolte and Camryn Engelman - Honorable Mention All-Conference along with the season award winners: Natalie Brownback - Highest FT% and Alivia Sabol - Rebounding Award and Best Defensive Player. Congratulations to the ladies on a terrific season going 27-6, winning the MSM Conference Championship and winning the Nokomis Fall Tip-Off Tournament.
